On Sept 11 2010 rapper 'Ragz' aka 'Ragz Sweet Jones' put a lot of
things into perspective for the UK hip hop game and it's players.
With the help of fellow underground UK rapper/producer/director
extraordinaire; Supar Novar, Ragz managed to capture the essence
of what has been missing for sometime in UK Hip Hop; shameless
originality and unique lyrical ability.

The album sounds very 'whole' in the sense that it's composition
and the way that it was compiled show very little room for criticism.

The production by Supar Novar was perfectly on-point and played as
the perfect accompliment to Ragz' carefree yet wittingly captivating
rhyme-flow.

I'll be DJ'ing at the album launch party, so come down and check out
the vibes! Olos and Big Ben will also be performing live on the night

The UK music scene seems to be on the up right now and to compliment that
there is a brand new wave (I hate that word) of 'artists' dressing up in
some of the most imaginative attire, experimenting with wacky hairstyles
and pushing the boundaries of convention all in conceited effort to get
noticed amongst the sea of 'new-wave' artists and potentially get signed!

On the opposite side of the spectrum, artists like Delzie are boldly laying
the paving stones to their own path in Music. Delzie, a humble yet confident
rapper from North London, has recently been putting together his highly
anticipated 'Popular Culture' mixtape. I've personally had the privilege
to preview the whole mixtape and I can honestly say that I was impressed!

When released on the 26th of August, the 'Popular Culture' mixtape will
feature tracks from a range of different producers, most notably a track
entitled 'Rock Da Show' by super producer/artist Labrith (also responsible
for Pass Out and Frisky both by Tinie Tempah). Also 'T-Shirt & Jeans' which
has already been featured on BBC2's show 'The Cut'.

Until the full release we've only been granted permission to share the
following track 'Gimmie More' which uses a sample of the famed Britney
Spears track of the same title. Check it out!

I've worked on quite a few logos, none of which I was actually
80-100% happy with. But I've finally developed a logo that I'm

Myself and Peep Game also spent a blessed sunday eating, digging for records,

The past few weeks of my life have been eaten up, quite literally, by preparing for my latest photoshoot. I've been planning and sewing and drawing and tidying and cutting and overlocking and throwing shit away to make space for all the photography equipment in my small living room. So now the shoot's done I feel like a huge weight's been lifted off my shoulders.

Last sunday, we shot my new Autumn/Winter black mesh collection , which I've named "Cleo" after my poor deceased baby rabbit - may she rest in peace. We also reshot some pieces of my older collections to get some clearer product shots - such a good photoshoot ! All the girls performed like pros in front of the lens, and Celine is a really talented photographer - I couldn't be prouder. It was a really fun girly day, everybody enjoyed my giant bowl of cider fruit punch, and especially loved the chicken prepared by Big Ben the night before, there was only one measly drumstick there for me when they left - chef extraordinaire !

Anyway, though I'd share some behind the scenes pictures, and some unedited shots from the day - completely 100% exclusive to Tokyo Grindhouse !

Future, Present and Past

Greetings and salutations peoples this is my first Tokyo Grindhouse post (i’m new to dis
blogging ting anyway, so be gentle wid me) I thought I’d hit you wid some history on how far
we go back and what we working on so here’s a little Past, present, future breakdown...

Future

This dropped today we caught mad jokes on dis trip. Looks like Fliplifetv is gonna be putting
in a lot of work this year.

Present

This dropped couple weeks back me n Ragz going back to back in Andover estate shouts
to Djgone, it was a funny day, a bunch of preteens on peddle bikes came and ambushed the
shoot started a big cipher hope he uses the footage.

Past

This is a video off Zeetvd of my mixtape launch way back in 2007 which was Dj’d by Brassfoot
and Dj 24/7 good night in all, more love than any one man needs. Bruva Brassfoot came out
last minute and helped me put everything together.

Ragz Sweet Jones and Dash Gambino shot some fresh Ukoverstood videos the other night,
the tracks are super hard so I’ll be posting them as soon as they drop in the next couple days .

Oh and on a last note as you lot will soon learn I am a connoisseur of the bums
and breasteses so i’ll be keepin my eye out for the new grind queen spot fashioned by Sugarlesque

A Guide To Panties ...

I've always felt sorry for men, mainly because they have so few choices when it comes to underwear. Boxershorts, Y-fronts, briefs ... that's about all I can think of. Going "commando" is always an option of course, but what with zips and buttons and no multi-tasking ability to speak of, that can often prove dangerous.

I joke, I joke ! I love men - I'm just glad I'm a woman. And I love lingerie - I love that as a woman, there's endless choice when it comes to picking undergarments, so I thought I'd do a breakdown of some of the main styles out there for those of you not in the know ...

1. Tap Pants (also known as French Knickers) - are loose fitting panties, popular in the earlier half of the last century, they're making a bit of a comeback at the moment. They're usually made of a silky fabric and sit high on the waist

Pros : because of the silky fabric, they feel nice and soft against the skin. And should you choose to wear them for seduction purposes, you're guaranteed to feel like a Hollywood pin-up !

Cons : because of the loose shape, they're completely impractical to wear under anything other than a loose dress. Also, a bad pair can make you feel like you're wearing your grandmother's knickers - never good, ever.

2. Boy Shorts - sort of a modern version of the Tap Pant - they're tight, made from stretchy fabric and sit high across on the bum

Pros : because of the way they cut across the bum cheek, they're guaranteed to give even the flattest batty a bit of shape.

Cons : a pair of boy shorts made from a bad fabric will give you THE worst and most painful wedgie you've ever experienced.

3. Briefs - the most common shape of panty with a full bum, made from stretch or non-stretch fabric, usually sits on the hips

Pros : because the majority of your bum cheek is covered you feel nice and secure throughout the day - this is especially comforting if it's that time of the month.

Cons : wear a pair that's even slightly too small and you'll suffer from VPL (visible panty line) - in my eyes this is a major underwear offence which really deserves a post all of it's own.

4. Thong (also known as a g-string) - made from minimal fabric, the back piece of the thong sits tucked away from view inbetween the bum cheeks

Pros : perfect for wearing with tight jeans or a figure-hugging dress, they make sure you have no unsightly lines or bumps underneath your outfit.

Cons : unless you have a bum like Rosa Acosta (which I personally do - don't hate) then a thong is not for you, they provide no coverage or extra shape to your natural bum, so approach with caution.

5. Control Pants (also known as Granny Panties) - very very big pants, made from a stretchy fabric, sit really really really high on the waist

Pros : even though most women won't admit it publicly, this is their favourite pair of pants ! They hold your tummy in so you can eat carbohydrates all day long without suffering from the dreaded belly bloat.

Cons : known in my family as "passion-killers", you cannot wear these pants to seduce anyone without a bit of embarassment. Unless you're with a long term partner, expect a look of confusion and possibly some laughter.

Hip-Hop: The DL Brotha's Perfect Hiding Place

For the last few years there's been a growing concern within Black neighborhoods
across America: the rise of homosexuality. Having lived in Atlanta, GA (which, is
considered to be the gay Black capital of the world) for close to 3 years and having
witnessed the annual increase of young gay Black males/females there, I'd say that
this concern is not without merit.

My own concern is not so much tied to the rise of homosexuality within Black
neighborhoods as it is to the reason(s) behind this rise. In my opinion, the main
cause behind this increase of homosexuality within Black neighborhoods is due
to mass media via Hip-Hop. Known also as "homo-thugs", DL Brothas blend in
perfectly by adorning Hip-Hop apparel. In his book, "Hiding In Hip Hop: My
Down Low Life In Hollywood And Hip-Hop", Terrance Dean, a former prison
inmate who admits to being sexually abused as a child, writes about his experience
being a gay Black man working in the music industry. He also tells how many of
our favorite Hip-Hop artists are nothing more than homo-thugs.

Confronting this issue, Atlanta-based Hip-Hop artist, Aisha Sekmet, voices her
opinion about homo-eroticism within Hip-Hop.

Before his death in '07, Pimp C, went on an Atlanta-based radio show briefly
exposing a few homo-thugs within Hip-Hop.

Personally, I think that the reason why this issue is such a sensitive one within
the Black community is because historically, homosexuality has never been an
accepted way of life within Black/African culture. And the outrage a lot of Black
folks direct towards homo-thugs is a result of Black people feeling as though our
music/culture is being used to influence us to accept something that has always
been taboo to us.

Diary Of A Tired Black Man

Last night I watched this really interesting film/documentary. It was very
low budget, but written and executed well. The theme was of most interest
to me as it centers around a topic ever present within the black community
and I can directly relate to the arguments raised within the movie. Check out
the trailer and prelude to the movie below:

The story is about a black couple who are experiencing relationship problems
that seem to stem from bad upbringing and general mis-communication.

The movie cuts back and forth between narrative and viewer commentary, yet
managed to keep me interested enough to watch the whole 108mins of film!

Definitely not a blockbuster movie, but I'd recommend you watch it, if you're
interested in social issues within the black community.

How I Got Over

The new Roots album, How I Got Over comes out today, 6/22. Sadly, this will be the first hip hop album I have bought in almost a year. I still can't decide if because I am older that I don't like hip hop anymore or because it sucks and that I don't like anymore. It is easy to say it sucks but if you ask any jr high school and high school student and they will tell you its great. And hip hop really is suppose to be a reflection on the youth, I learned this from my cousins and all their friends the last time I went back to Baltimore. I can also remember being on Nas or Jay-z when they first came out and older heads saying they ain't got nothing on Rakim so...

We will see how this album is. I can't believe these guys just keep rolling with the punches. They drop innovative album after innovative album and they will never sell, let alone really be appreciated. Black Thought's lyrics just get better every album and their constantly evolving sonically. Here are the two singles off the album...

A Night in Tunisia

A Night in Tunisia is one of my favorite jazz compositions of all time. Orginally it was written by Dizze Gilpise, as Art Blakey remembered at Birdland in 56', "I was with him, he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can...seriously!"

This is I believe was one of the orginal versions...

Art Blakey took it elsehwere with his intense drumming.

I feel Dexter Gordon brought it back down from where Art Blakey took it and refined it...

As many of my most personal friends know, I've been very preoccupied recently
with the premature birth of my Son combined with a very difficult move back to
the UK.

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who's been reading/following/commenting
